Q.
How far back will you get within the period
allocated to the Standard Search?
A. This is perhaps the most
frequent question we are asked, and it is
also the hardest to answer.
It is impossible to predict
how much progress will be made in any particular
investigation. Each case is unique, with different
sets of problems.
Much depends on factors such
as surname, religion, illegitimacy, occupation,
parish and so on. The best we can do is give
an estimate based on experience.
Under normal circumstances
we would expect to get back to 1780's from,
say, a 1910 birth certificate within the time
allocated to the Standard Search.
Q.
What happens if you fail to make progress?
A. If, in the early stages
of the search, it becomes obvious that no
progress will be made, then we simply abort
the investigation, and charge you only for
work done up to that point .
Quite simply we don't want to spend our time
wasting your money.
Q.
Is it possible to continue with the investigation
after recieving the results from the initial
investigation?
A. Yes. At the end of each
report a number of suggestions for further
research are given. An honest and frank assessment
will be provided. We also keep copies of all
reports to enable us to re-open each case
where necessary.
It is in our interest to
provide quality reports as most of our income
is generated by customers returning for more
work.
Q.
In what form are the results presented?
A. The results of a Standard
Search come in the form of a simple typed
report. No frills. The report will be
a step by step account of the entire investigation,
including all the information extracted from
Certificates, Census Returns, Old Parish Records,
etc., along with all relevant reference numbers.
The finished report is supplied
with an attractive wallet, along with a family
tree chart.
Q.
How do I pay?
A. Simply fill in the on-line
Secure Order
Form. Payment can be made by credit card
or by cheque. (If paying by cheque we would
require a deposit of £75).
Q.
Can you undertake searches for tracking living
relatives?
A. Yes, though this is far
more complicated. We would need to see specific
details before an adequate assessment could
be given.
Q.
What are your Terms and Conditions?
A. Our full terms
and conditions are available to view,
print and download.
